Sat, October 1; 10 am – 2 pm

Over the past two years, we have taken steps to enhance our safety awareness and preparedness. We have updated policies and procedures for responding to fire, weather, health, and disruptive incidents. We’re taking another step forward with this series of safety training session. These sessions are for ushers, greeters, RE volunteers, church leaders, and anyone interested in increasing their safety readiness.

It’s been recommended that schools and churches have Narcan available in the event that someone has an accidental overdose of narcotic medicine. We now have that on hand at the church. Liv4lali will have trainers on site to show us how and when to use Narcan. They will also be our partner going forward in supplying more Narcan if we need it.

We have a trio of experts from our own congregation who will walk us through the recommended response to a medical emergency, severe weather, fire, or a disruptive individual. Lisa Christensen (nurse and medical administrator) will lead us in first aid. Scot Giles (community minister and safety expert) will discuss dealing with disruptive individuals. Cindy Thornton (safety trainer and 911 responder) will cover best practices in greeting visitors as well as keeping calm in an emergency.

Come for the morning, the afternoon, or both. Lunch will be provided for those who request it. Here’s the schedule:

  • 10 – 11:30 am: Narcan Training presented by Live4Lali
  • 11:30 am – 12:15 pm: Lunch
  • 12:15 – 2 pm: Best Practices for medical, weather, fire, and physical safety presented by Lisa Christensen, Scot Giles, and Cindy Thornton
