Pulpit guest Rev. R. Ken Turner leads this service about recognizing the good and positive in our lives and how in difficult times that recognition can affect our reactions.

Rev. R Ken Turner, is a New Thought minister who blends his spiritual calling with a background in video and television production to inspire personal transformation. As Senior Minister of Unity of Chicago South—the leading fully online New Thought spiritual community—he leads weekly livestreams from Chicago, delivering messages of hope, empowerment, and spiritual awakening to a growing virtual congregation. In recent years, Rev. Ken has joyfully expanded his expression of New Thought teachings beyond his home community, and he looks forward to deepening his connection with the broader UU community.

Reading Roundtable meets twice a month to discuss a 5- to 10-page essay, short story, or poem from an anthology. All are welcome! Transitions

The mission of the Transitions group is to provide a forum for mature adults to explore life transitions with a supportive community during daytime hours. This month, we will enjoy a Transitions potluck picnic in George & Kathy Motto’s backyard, 637 S. Bristol Lane, Arlington Hts. 60005. Hamburgers and all drinks will be provided. Bring side dishes, salads, desserts, and any other treats plus, of course, your desire to have great time.

Please note, there will be no CCUU Transitions meeting in August.

Feminine Divine Women’s Group

The Feminine Divine Women’s Group provides a welcoming sacred space for women to form a bond with each other and with the feminine divine. We strive to be inclusive, compassionate, and understanding of women and their challenges, joys, and spiritual history. At our September meeting, we typically select a book with a feminine divine or feminine historical theme to study & discuss over the course of the year. We meet the last Saturday of the month at 10 am.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient practice that enhances health, concentration, and wellbeing. It can be practiced by people of all ages, sizes, shapes, and abilities. This class will focus on short movement sequences that increase flexibility, strength, and balance. The class is open to beginners and to those with prior experience. Free YouTube videos will be available to enhance home practice. The class is based on the modified Yang style of tai chi as taught by Master Moy Lin Shin.

We meet on Saturdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am. We will not meet July 4, Aug 1, or Sept 5.

Instructor: Melanie Terbovic, a certified Tai Chi teacher

In 2023, Rob and Bev Leachman completed a 500-mile hike across Spain on the Camino de Santiago, one of the oldest and most revered pilgrimage routes in the world. In this service, Rob will share some of the powerful spiritual lessons they learned during this challenging but transformative journey.

Journaling Circle meets on the 1st Thursday of the month. Each gathering opens with a short meditation. We then free write and write from prompts related to our monthly themes. Through sharing our writings, we also share life’s journey and deepen relationships within our community. Have your notebook/journal and a pen ready & join us online for personal exploration and growth. Green Sanctuary Meeting

The Green Sanctuary Committee promotes awareness, appreciation, and action in support of the environment on which we all depend. We promote worship that deepens our connection to the natural world, educational programs for all ages, service projects, and non-partisan political actions that address the climate crisis.

The Green Sanctuary group meets on the 2nd Sunday of the month following the worship service. Please join us!
