Countryside Has a New Logo
From 2007 until now, CCUU’s logo, the ‘Come Grow With Us’ tree, was one created by Cherita Axel and Karl Michalec for our last ministerial search. Over the past four months, our logo team – Jerome McDonnell, Laurie Lantz, Lois Phillips, Avery Pierce, Bailey Pierce, and Elizabeth Van Orden – has been working on a new logo to go with our new mission statement. We reviewed proposals from several designers and hired Michael Proft, the designer we thought had the strongest portfolio, and then met with him to discuss our mission, our congregation’s identity, what sets us apart, and how to create a logo that is instantly recognizable.
We carefully deliberated over dozens of designs, fonts, and color palettes, understanding the challenge of finding symbols, fonts, and colors that could represent the diverse thoughts and feelings within our congregation. The goal is to foster a sense of belonging among our current community and to pique the interest of others, inviting them to join us.
We’d like to point out the “prairie grass” within the flame is a nod to our countryside. Those who were congregants in 2016, when we celebrated our 60th Anniversary as a Congregation, might remember the logo for that event was designed by Cathleen Chay and included “prairie grass!”
Last month, the board voted on and approved the final logo design. We are thrilled to now share it with our congregation.
