Faith Development Offering: UU History 101

Part of our Faith Forward Path, UU History 101 is a 6-session introduction to concepts and people from our history. In this series, we approach history from the starting point of compelling stories and personalities. We will explore the questions those people faced, and make connections with our own lives and the world around us today. The overarching question is: how can history be translated into our religious life and practice? In addition to learning about history, we hope you will learn about yourselves.

Please register below. We will meet from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, with an optional 30-minute discussion until 1 pm, on the following 2024 dates:

  • April 14: A Question of Conscience – Michael Servetus and William Ellery Channing
  • May 12: cancelled due to Mother’s Day
  • June 9: A Question of Love – George de Benneville

[Note: There will be a 2 month break in the summer.  No class in July and August.]

  • September 15: A Question of Experience – Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalist Movement [This session will be held on the 3rd Sunday due to Ingathering/Water Communion on September 8.]
  • October 13: A Question of Resilience & Courage – Olympia Brown and Theodore Parker
  • November 10: A Question of Identity – the Merger of Unitarianism and Universalism
  • December 8: A Question of Calling – Lucile Schuck Longview and Bill Sinkford
