Palatine Recycling Program for Textiles and Home Goods
In 2022, the Village of Palatine approved a textile and home goods recycling program through Simple Recycling.
Frequency: year-round via a reservation system. Request a pickup via Simple Recycling’s website (https://simplerecycling.com/) or phone (866-835-5068). Place recyclables in a bag or box outside the residence front door at the designated reservation time.
Cost: free
Containers: large bags or boxes each weighing 50 pounds or less when filled
Tax consideration: Simple Recycling is a for-profit company and so cannot give a receipt for tax deduction. Local charities are a better option for this.
Acceptable Materials: clothing for men, women and children, jewelry, shoes, purses, hats, toys, pictures, mirrors, blankets, drapes and curtains, pillows, rags, sewing scraps, sleeping bags, small furniture, small appliances, irons, radios, audio equipment, cameras, lamps, hairdryers, tools, toasters, microwaves, coffee makers, silverware, dishes, pots and pans, glasses and the like.
