All-Ages Blessing of the Animals Service

When:8/13/2017 at 10:00 am| Worship Leader: Jackie Dennison
Feel free to bring well-behaved leashed, crated or caged pets. You are also invited to bring photos of pets that have passed away for our memorial table in the back of the sanctuary.

Share the Plate: Half of the cash collected in the offering will be donated to Young at Heart Pet Rescue, formed in April 2005 to aid in the rescue and re-homing of older dogs and cats in the Chicagoland area. Over the years, hundreds of senior pets have been rescued and adopted into loving homes. Young at Heart is a foster-based rescue with the long-term goal of opening Illinois’s first adoption center and sanctuary for senior cats and dogs. They have recently broken ground for this innovative facility in Woodstock, Illinois.

This is an All-Ages service; young people attend worship with their families. Nursery & Chalice Children will be available for children 0-5 years old.

NOTE: Our One-Service Schedule begins the 3rd Sunday in May and continues through Sept 10 (the Sunday after Labor Day), with one worship service and religious education program at 10:00 am.

The pantry has served an average of 345 families each month during the past year. Families may come to the pantry every 30 days for groceries, meat, dairy, and some personal items free of charge. Monetary donations are fully tax-deductible. Checks should be made out to the Palatine Township Needy Family Fund.

The Joy of Chaos

When:9/3/2017 at 10:00 am| Worship Leader: The Rev. Dr. C. Scot Giles
Progress in any field is always accompanied by disruption. The printing press disrupted the production of books. Automation disrupted manufacturing. Discordant sounds disrupted modal music; blasphemous ideas disrupted theology. Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality threaten to disrupt the way we live our lives, and antagonism disrupts our political life. In this sermon, Dr. Giles will frame discord and chaos as powers we must respect and learn to use.
This is an All-Ages service; young people attend worship with their families. Nursery & Chalice Children will be available for children 0-5 years old.
NOTE: Our Summer schedule of one service at 10:00 am continues through Sept 10 (the Sunday after Labor Day), which will be our Ingathering and Water Communion Service at 10:00 am, followed by lunch and festivities. Two service-schedule begins Sept 17 with services at 9 & 11.

Ingathering and Water Communion

When:9/10/2017 at 10:00 am| Worship Leader: The Rev. Hilary Landau Krivchenia
After summer’s scattering, we come together and mingle water, symbolic of the places where we learned and grew over the summer. From the kitchen tap to the Pacific Ocean, we have been instructed and changed by our lives; let us share those lessons. Water will be available just in case you left yours at home on the counter, out in the sprinkler, or back at the beach.

Share the Plate: Half of the cash collected in the offering will be donated to the Minister’s Discretionary Fund, used to help those in need in the congregation.
