Faith in Action (FIA) Dates for 2017-18: Oct 8, Dec 3, Feb 4, Apr 1

Join us for a series of workshops designed to help young people put their beliefs into action. This program is open to all Kdgtn-12th grade students. Each FIA Sunday will include: opening worship; sharing of experiences; and age-appropriate activities for service learning. The goals of Faith-in-Action are to:

  • Provide opportunities for young people to experience their power to make a positive difference in the world
  • Experience learning and service as an integral part of our UU beliefs and practices
  • Cultivate young people’s natural sense of justice, empathy, and compassion

Faith in Action on Oct 8, 2017: It’s Scary to be Hungry. This month’s Faith in Action Program will focus on understanding hunger and food insecurities. For the month of October, our Religious Education program is summoning the cure to both hunger and food insecurities through the magic of generosity. You can help by bringing a canned good or non-perishable food item with you to church every Sunday in October. Leave donations in the bins provided in Atherton Hall or the classroom wing. At the end of the month, these items will be donated to PADS and the Palatine Food Pantry.

Young people are also invited to participate in:

  • Children’s Garden — growing organic vegetables to support the Palatine Township Food Pantry
  • Youth Hunger Opposition of Palatine — to benefit the Palatine Township Food Pantry
  • Guest-at-Your-Table – to benefit the work of the UU Service Committee
  • Green Sanctuary – embracing environmentally-sustainable ways of living
  • Chicago Pride Parade & Pride Youth events
  • Share-the-Plate offerings
